Yes, the shade is made of wood. The base is mahogany and the stem is maple with a polished brass support for the wood shade. The lamp measures 22" tall with a 7.5" diameter ash wood lampshade. It will accommodate a standard 100 watt light-bulb or a compact florescent bulb. It has an easily accessible cord switch.
